Newton North has a robust parent and guardian community. Our PTSO strength and success depends on the generosity and energy of parent\/guardian volunteers to help keep our community informed, connected, and strong. This is a great way to support our hardworking teachers and staff and, of course, all of our students. Can you help? Please consider the excellent opportunities below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Open Board Positions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co-director, Communications<\/em><\/strong> (1)
Oversee communication with parents\/guardians, including Tiger News (e-newsletter), community news, stand alone emails, and Facebook page (or other Social Media). Post stories on PTSO website as needed for inclusion in weekly e-newsletter. Publicize events and post photos. Attend PTSO board meetings (every six weeks during the school year). Time commitment: September to June, three to four hours\/week<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-director, Programming<\/em><\/strong> (1)
Work with co-presidents to determine content of five PTSO programs (\u201cmeetings\u201d) per year and arrange logistics. Attend PTSO board meetings (every six weeks during the school year). Time commitment: September to June, one hour every two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Open Committee Positions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Teacher Appreciation <\/em><\/strong>(1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oversee the Teacher Appreciation Dinner (early December during teacher conferences – if conferences are in-person). If conferences are held on Zoom, substitute another event like lunch or sundaes for the dinner.  Oversee the Faculty\/Staff Retirement Tea (May\/June).  Time commitment: November-June  two hours\/month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newton Serves\/Operation Bold Paint<\/em><\/strong> (1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oversee NNHS’s participation in Newton Serves (first Sunday in May).\u00a0 The primary tasks are painting an accent wall in a small number of classrooms and outdoor clean-up.\u00a0 The co-chair coordinates with the City to have North listed as a Newton Serves site.\u00a0 The current co-chair is experienced and will provide necessary guidance.\u00a0 Advertise the event to solicit North volunteers through\u00a0Tiger News\u00a0and emails.\u00a0 Ensure that all supplies are delivered to North and are set\u00a0up in the lobby for volunteers to pick-up. Assign volunteers to tasks.\u00a0 Monitor progress and clean-up efforts.\u00a0 (Time Commitment – a few hours in the month of April and 9-5 day of the event)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multicultural Night co-chair<\/em><\/strong> (1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plan and oversee community-building event (Fall). Time commitment: October\/November, six hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educational Excellence Fundraising Campaign<\/em><\/strong> (1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oversee annual check-writing campaign for a principal-selected cause at NNHS. Produce mailing and electronic communications. Work with treasurer to track progress.
