{"id":5806,"date":"2023-04-03T15:48:34","date_gmt":"2023-04-03T15:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.northptso.org\/site\/?p=5806"},"modified":"2023-04-03T15:52:58","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T15:52:58","slug":"newton-north-school-council-seekstwo-parent-guardian-members-and-one-alternate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.northptso.org\/site\/2023\/04\/03\/newton-north-school-council-seekstwo-parent-guardian-members-and-one-alternate\/","title":{"rendered":"Newton North School Council Seeks Two Parent\/Guardian Members and One Alternate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The primary responsibilities of the School Council are to advise and assist the principal with the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and to help develop any projects arising out of the SIP that the principal identifies as beneficial to the successful functioning and development of the school.&nbsp;<br><br>The term of office is three years. Parent\/guardian members must&nbsp;have a child attending Newton North High School during their entire three-year term (Fall 2023&nbsp;&#8211; Spring 2026). Members&nbsp;are expected to attend&nbsp;meetings on the first Monday of each month during the school year, October to June. Meetings are usually located in the principal&#8217;s conference room (Room 103)&nbsp;from&nbsp;6:00 to 7:30&nbsp;p.m. or via Zoom.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Candidates are required to submit a brief statement (100 words or less) that&nbsp;addresses the following questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What&nbsp;elementary and middle school did your NNHS student attend?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why would you would like to serve on School Council?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What interests and qualities would you bring to School Council deliberations?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What background, skills, and expertise&nbsp;have prepared you for the role?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please submit statements to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:co-presidents@northptso.org\" target=\"_blank\">co-presidents@northptso.org<\/a>\u00a0by<\/strong> <strong>Wednesday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should more than\u00a0two candidates come forward, elections will be held via email from Tuesday, April 25, through Thursday, May 4\u00a0at 12:00 noon. The two people who\u00a0receive\u00a0the most votes will become members, beginning in Fall 2023.\u00a0The person who\u00a0receives the third-highest number of votes will\u00a0have the opportunity to serve as an alternate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If any parent\/guardian&nbsp;representative member of the School Council resigns anytime during the&nbsp;2023-24 school year (before his\/her term is complete), the alternate will be&nbsp;offered the position and will complete the remainder of that person\u2019s term.
