Preparing Your Teen for the Digital Transformation of Jobs & Careers: Jan 30, 2023

NNHS PTSO Programming Committee hosted a workshop on the topic of preparing our teens for the digital transformation of jobs and careers. Dr. Abel Sanchez, a research scientist at MIT, spoke about the impact of digital transformation to industry and the relationship between education and the jobs of the future.  According to Dr. Sanchez, industry after industry is being transformed: retail, healthcare, energy, film and television, banking, among many others. This triggers the need for educational disruptions, changing paradigms, emerging models, and necessary adjustments in education. The workshop generated a lively discussion about the need for more artificial intelligence and computer science classes in schools and the overarching impact of computation to various career fields. The workshop was held on zoom and was well attended (30 participants). The slides from the presentation can be found here.
